Genmaicha is a green tea of Japanese origin.

The etymology of its name indicates a peculiar feature: Genmai means rice, cha which means tea.

It is a tea, generally Bancha to which puffed and toasted white rice is added, a sort of popcorn tea as some have defined it.

The most valuable quality involves the use of mochi rice, although the common rice, uruchimai, is generally used.

The base is given by Bancha green tea, with a very low theine content, therefore also suitable for children.

Genmaicha taste is stronger and it can be bitter at times. Our Organic Genmaicha is made from high quality Organic Sencha and Organic toasted brown rice. It is a fantastic, skillfully concocted pairing.

They are carefully deep steamed to obtain the much loved lighter flavor. Then, these leaves are blended with toasted brown rice (genmai). Balance in blend is concentrated on. This blend produces a nutty and slightly grassy taste, this unique blend can be enjoyed as an everyday favorite.

A captivating subtle complexity of flavor is discernible in our Organic Genmaicha. One has to taste it to believe it.

At second infusion, the taste mellows but is still satisfying. Caffeine content wise, Organic Genmaicha’s is considerably lower in comparison with other Japanese green teas.

Genmaicha is a favorite accompaniment to a Japanese dinner.
